I’m back in Oregon! Huge thanks to all the folks that hosted, exhibited, attended, covered, photographed or read up on the NAHBS action this year! It was a fun show, and the response already has been great. I just came back into town and grabbed a quick lunch with my wife. I’m trying to catch up on some office stuff, before heading back to the shop for a few hours. If any of you have or find blog posts, p
The good folks at Road Bike Review set up an interview- the first one for NAHBS 2011! Take a peek, and feel free to pass it around. Gallery and link Thanks, Road Bike Review! Off to find food and jump into day two!
I just took a peek to find I am currently the top story on the NAHBS daily blog. The photo above is borrowed from that link here. It was a great first day that included a few interviews, connecting with some internet folks and meeting a bunch of new faces. It was great day and a good warm up for what I anticipate to be a very busy weekend. See you there!
I woke up at around 3am this morning, and rolled into Austin right around 3pm local time. Big thanks to The Green Mamba (the van has a name) and John from The Lake Travis Cyclery for giving a bunch of dirt bag bike geeks a ride into town! NAHBS is just around the corner. After a bit of a marathon build, photo (thanks Tina!), build, crate and pack session the bikes and booth are on their way to Texas (thanks Ben and Ira)! I thought I would throw out a few more teasers of a fun bike I’m working on. This is a full stainless build I am putting together for myself and the San Diego show, but just couldn’t help myself and packed it up to show in
Bike Rumor has a series they are running on the way to NAHBS. Different builders respond to the same 11 questions and give a quick bit of insight into who they are, what they are up to and what one can expect to see at NAHBS. Here is mine: http://www.bikerumor.com/ I just picked up Bryan’s stuff from the plater- just in time for the crate to leave Monday morning!
The road into show season is an interesting one, balancing the work, customer bikes, inventory and show prep. One of the small hiccups along the way was discovering that I was fresh out of brass spoke nipples and well between orders. I put out the call, and was very pleased that both Conor from Vendetta Cycles and Todd from Southwest Bicycle in Portland answered the call! With those and a pair of freshly landed hoops
I’ve been keeping the last few builds somewhat under my hat as they will be NAHBS bound, and for some reason that seems to call for some sort of “unveiling of secrets”. I’m not sure why, but I was one of those kids that never went looking for Christmas presents (even when I knew where they were) because the unveiling is part of the fun. That said, I’m going to throw a couple of teasers o
