During the mid-15th century the sallet helmet style became a staple in Europe. In Germany the style was widely adopted and developed. With lugs reminiscent of the distinctive wrap features, pointed tail and Gothic touches, the Winter “Sallet” is ready for war.
Designed to compete in open class road racing, this single speed blends modern performance with a contemporary in interpretation of classic details. The hand cut lugs and fork crown feature clean lines, circle cuts and long stylized points echoed in the custom stem. The piercing is brought through to the Drellium Revival embellished Nitto seat pin and full compliment of Rene Herse chain rings. These rings, an accompaniment of White Industries freewheels and tools are carried in a custom made to match RuthWorks race bag. The ENVE SMART 6.7’s are laced with CX-Rays to specially ordered Phil Wood low flange hubs and sheathed in Schwalbe One tubulars. The TRP brake system and Dura Ace pedals finish off the build.
Paint on the Sallet is a special hand rubbed and “aged” finish preformed by Winter Bicycles. Styled after rat rod classic cars, it reflects the rough and tumble “sleeper” nature of this race machine.
